Winning 'Best of Houzz' Awards for Your Landscaping Company

Houzz is a great tool for anyone diving into a home or landscaping improvement project. They often say it's like "Pinterest for home improvement projects", and we agree. Houzz provides resources and inspiration for every type of project - a kitchen renovation, new patio, outdoor lighting or selecting new colors for a room. Along with this, you can find local pros in your area that specialize in the work you're looking to have done. How awesome is that?!

Houzz also presents awards to businesses that work hard to put their best face forward on the platform. They give the 'Best of Houzz' award to companies that have a great reputation and projects uploaded to their business profile, to help homeowners choose wisely when selecting a contractor to work with. As you can see below, these awards are displayed front and center on a company's profile on Houzz.

If you want to stand out from the competition on Houzz, you'll need to build a beautiful business page that's worthy of Houzz awards and badges. We recommend creating a new business page on Houzz to all of our landscaper clients, and here's how we do it.

Winning 'Best of Houzz' Awards for Your Landscaping Company

  1. Complete a Beautiful Houzz Profile. First, you'll need to start by creating a new business account on the platform, if you don't already have one. It's completely free to set-up, and should take just a few hours to get it well-established. You'll need your logo file and a few beautiful photos of your work to begin.

  2. Create Impressive Content. Once you have your business profile completely filled out, you can start sharing your page to build an audience and request reviews from happy clients. Continue to add new projects to your portfolio, so your audience can see what types of projects your team can take on. Uploading photos and project descriptions does take time. This is a great action item to add to your list to work on over several weeks or even months. Try uploading new projects as you complete them, or one new project every week until you have a full library of project examples on your company's profile!

  3. Share Your Eye-Catching Houzz Profile. Now that you have a great new business profile, you'll want to make sure it's easily available for your audience to find. The easiest way to do that? Add a link to your website, aligned with your other social media profile links. Share a link to your profile on LinkedIn posts, email marketing campaigns, and especially with clients looks for inspiration for their next project. Landscaping clients always want to see work references and photos of recently completed projects of a similar scope. Use your new Houzz profile as a tool to win more business!

  4. Don't 'Set It And Forget It'. As marketers, we see this common mistake happen all the time with busy, small landscaping companies. Well-intentioned time will be spent setting up a new business page on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Houzz. Then, the page gets forgotten about instead of growing and becoming more established and influential within the given platform. To win Houzz awards for your landscaping company, you'll need to invest time in building a robust profile full of eye-catching images of projects you want to showcase. We recommend revisiting all business profiles at least a few times a year, to add content, update information, and most importantly, take advantage of new features released by the platform.

  5. Houzz Can Help. The platform does offer paid promotional options to active businesses. As you consider whether you want to pay to advertise on the platform or not, you can work with the Houzz team to evaluate your business profile and make adjustments as needed. Should you pay to advertise with Houzz? It depends on your marketing strategy as a whole. Either way, you'll want to make sure you are taking full advantage of free profile enhancements and opportunities before taking the leap into paid advertising.
