Website Redesign for The Shaved Duck BBQ Restaurant in St. Louis (a local favorite!)

Updated: May 14, 2021

The Shaved Duck is famous for BBQ nationwide, thanks in no small part to its popular appearance on Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins & Dives (Season 15, Episode 11). You can even find the Cherry Juniper Jam recipe featured in the episode on the website here.

So, when owner Ally Nesbit reached out to us for digital marketing assistance for both of his St. Louis restaurants, you could say it made us hungry to get started on work!

The Shaved Duck's was originally set-up by a family friend that performed "fine for awhile" but was confusing to visitors, outdated, and missing elements that could really help the team work smarter. They also posted and interacted on social media infrequently, didn't have time-saving automations set-up, and had problems to address with digital communication.

We first got to work revamping the content and visuals for their social media profiles. Then, we revamped the navigation, design, and content on the website to help website visitors view the menu easily, order catering online, with call-to-action text for delicious specials, menu updates & special events.

Then we created a library of images showcasing BBQ specials, cocktails, and unique offerings that make "The Duck" an iconic restaurant in St. Louis. We also worked to subtly cross-promote Ally's other restaurant, The Scottish Arms in the Central West End. They have an award-winning brunch which The Shaved Duck doesn't offer, so we included that as a part of our marketing content, too.

With our vast experience marketing for landscaping companies, we also designed & installed large container garden displays for both restaurants, using low-maintenance / high-impact plants that would be easy for the restaurant's teams to care for, but would instantly brighten curb appeal and step-up the "selfie game" of diners.

We kept this digital marketing work affordable by working on updates and changes over several months, which including ongoing social media management. This process gave us time to learn more about each restaurant's unique personality, and create content that feels authentic and genuine to the experiences diners enjoy at each beloved restaurant.
